    Arrow i got toshiba satellite 2140, its old version.
    got same problem
    yesterday i started my laptop, after booting it went to HDD boot and showed the windowsXP logo that shows harddisk was booting
    suddenly it stopped and after some time i rebooted the system.
    after that my harddisk never works
    i remember my harddisk space was full
    ===================================================
    after reading lot of discussion forums and websties
    try these:
    * BIOS UPDATE
    * reconnect RAM and Harddisk
    * RECONNECT CMOS battery
    ==================================================
    but problem for me is that i dont know where my harddisk and CMOS are located in laptop

    hi guys,

    I need help here, my toshiba satelite 2100cds has been giving me boot error (ide 0 error)immediately after the toshiba splash screen and insert disk in drive msg follows.

    when i do this nothing happens but it keeps repeating the same msg.

    Also the diskette and CdRom drive light is not coming on. I checked the cmos setting and found cd-Rom and disktte drive but no drive was written for the hard disk.

    I got the same problem, IDE #0 ERROR. But when I restart it, I press "Del", it works out. Maybe you can try.

    There is one solution, though I tried it myself and it did not work for me. Here's the link to it on Laptop Computing

    I have contacted Toshiba Support. Here's the quote of what they said: "If you get an IDE#0-error, the drive has the wrong setting.

    You might overcome this by jumpering the drive as Slave (CD).

    If this does not help, you have to look for a hard disk with correct setting for your system."
