it seems like the HDD is not detected. you maybe try to take out the HDD and resit back again. if the problem still happen you may send to the service centre to check out. -

I recently replaced a motherboard in a Toshiba 2140xcds and I am also receiveing the IDE #0 error.
Could you please advise how (if) you were able to fix the problem. I have tried flashing the BIOS but this was unsuccesful. -

this error normally is cause by the CDROM or the HDD. try to remove the cdrom and test again -

When I replaced the motherboard on my old Toshiba 2140xcds I received an "IDE # 0 error" when the PC was powered up.
I cannot access the HDD but can access the FDD although this is of limited use. The CD ROM can also be accessed through the Windows boot disk but it too cannot help with accessing the HDD.
The system BIOS states that there is no HDD present so I suspect the error may be due to a faulty contoller of the HDD itself. All were working fine prior to the motherborad failure.
Any suggestions other then the above please?
