    thanks, so when I get pinnacle will I just install, plug in and go? I really don't want to do much other than capture stills and video to import to a website for a rental property. I also have a lexmark x125 scan, print, copier and it prints but won't scan...

    Yeah, normally that should work without a lot of problems, if you have read the other reviews, you will have seen that pretty much everybody is looking for answers about DVC, I guess the software sucks, ...

    Why doesnt' my minidv work with usb? do I have to have firewire/card? camera came with usb so why doenst it work? please explain.

    I downloaded demo of Pinnacle studio 8 dv and I still get an error that can't detect camcorder. I am using usb but do I have to use firewire/card. I thought usb and firewire were same but fire was faster. Could there be another problem????

    beats me, I guess you would have to ask Samsung. I have switched to firewire because USB clearly does not work

    I guess I should reply on this site,I have been responding on my personal site.

    The driver from Samung is for Windows 98 and it wont work because of you notice it is looking for com ports only. It is not your usb that is the problem, it is the software is ancient.

    I went to Pinnnacle Studio 8 DV / With a Firewire card included and this program is awesome. It does everything.

    No more problems. It also captures my still photos, and I can run a

    Sony 64mb stick also in my Samsung.

    Just install your firewire card in a pci slot and Windows recognizes it. After you install pinnacle, run the upgrade program and it will install a few patches also that are fixes.

    Good luck and throw away that Samsung download, it wont work.

    Can somebody explain to me plz what do you have to purchase besides the software from Pinnnacle (Studio 8 DV). I heard some of you mentioning Firewire--I really don't know what's this is?? is it a hardware? Plz help. Thank you!

    When you purchase your Pinnacle Studio 8 DV, make sure it is the one that includes the FireWire card and cables. I paid around $70.00 thru Dell.
