Hi,
I've been trying to get the common hack for this model to work for a few days now with no luck (apparently it's just a rebadged Roadstar player). I follow the instructions as posted on most of the web sites (pressing 1,3,6,9 and the arrows on the remote control) but get absolutely no joy at all - am I missing something obvious???!
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!! -

What does
Multi-Region:
Put into DVD screen mode
Press the DVD Setup key and have this set on-screen
Use remote to key in 1, 3, 6, 9 then immediately press the Left navigate arrow 3 times, followed by the Right key once. (this takes some practice, so don't stand too close to the TV)
Now you will see a new option on-screen named VERSION
Enter into Version and select region code as required (which means the code free option)
do? Please be specific!
Also, do your menu screen look like this?

My setup screen doesn't look like that at all! That screen shot was from a Compacks unit.... I understood that the Compacks dvd/tv unit was a rebadged Sampo player so my Goodmans (Roadstar rebadge) looks totally different to that!
When I perform the posted '1369' hack, I just end up at the Dolby Digital setup page - with no extra 'Version' option......
Am I just being totally thick??!

I know that screen was from a compacks unit. However, it was the first I could find of a typical Mediatek 1369 based unit. If your screens look radically different and if the 1369 hack doesn't even give you a version I'm suspecting that your unit is based on a different chipset.
If it is indeed a rebadged Roadstar as you suspect I suggest you look here and try out a few:

also, did you try hack# from this page: http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/full/Roadstar1437.asp ?? -

I've tried both of those hacks to no avail.... the screen does look entirely different to the screen shot mention previously - I'll try to get a screenshot of it up on the web somewhere so I can show you exactly what I mean....
In the meantime, I'm beginning to suspect that maybe the later models (bought 5 days ago...) are indeed based around a different chipset..... The screenshot on the dvdreviewer site does look the same as my unit, although mine has a silver remote. One thing I ded notice on the dvdreviewer site was that the hack was known to work with gtv34dvd models - mine has a slightly different model number - gtv34Rdvd... another clue that it may be based on a different chip set, perhaps...?
Will keep trying however! Thanks for all your help so far...... -

few shots of your setup menus would help.
It's not unknown to keep the same exterior longer than the same chipset. -

Hi - finally managed to cobble together a very basic page with some screenshots on..... used the missus' ntlworld homepage to put 'em on!
Any advice would be much appreciated - is this not the screen I should be seeing?

Thanks,

This is not likely to be a 1369 based player. In fact, this is totally unlike I've ever seen.
I'll do some asking around and will let you know. -
