hey,i got a htd-k170 from argos for £69.99.brilliant! problem is tho, it always takes 4-5 attempts to get the thing powered up when i first turn it on at the plug, usually weird writing apears on the LCD display in place of "ON"..."LOADING" which is very odd.
But im really wanting to know if it supports PRO-LOGIC II cuz im tryin to get surround sound out of my Gamecube but its only regestering 2 speakers plus subwoofer :-/ ive trie using both SCART and AV channels but still to no avail. any advice?

    Cheers

Hitachi tech dept. say I must have an input source (ie video) connected to DVD as well to complete the circuit - Does that sound right?

Mine is connected to the TV Via the TV out scart socket with no problems at all. I would try another lead and if you still have problems I think it might be a faulty system.

I'll have to check mine when I get home to see how I have it setup.

This isn't a request for a hack code but help with actually conecting my system. I'v tried to connect the DVD player and TV using the "Output to TV" scart on the back of the DVD player (the one on the bottom) into EXT1 on the TV, I can get a picture but no sound so I'v used the other scart socket (on top) and have to change MODE to SCART to get sound. Why is this? Am I doing something wrong. I'v asked Hitachi tech dept. and their as good as useless and you guys seem to know an awfull lot more. PLEASE HELP!!!

Ace, because the posts are taking a few days to appear I've managed to try The Patriot and that works great Smile

I'm well pleased with the 170 now, I noticed Argos are pushing it again in the press with £50 off the complete tv, video, dvd system.

I have played Tears of the Sun region 1. This disk is RCE protected and plays perfectly on my system.

Yes I played Tears of the Sun with Bruce Willis, this is a RCE disk and it played with no problems. This makes a good system great.

I had almost given up on getting a hack and was in the process of copying my region 1 disk to DVD-R as region free and then playing them on my Hitatchi.

If you have a DVD writer on your computer then try DVD shrink it's a freeware program and works like a treat to encode dvd's.
