Which one is better? A 1967 Chevelle or a Pontiac Firebird?

I think you mean Camaro & Firebird, not Chevelle & Firebird. The Chevelle was a size up (intermediate) as opposed to the Camaro and Firebird which were 1960' sport compacts.
The Chevelle is the sort of car you compare against the Pontiac Tempest/GTO. It's a physically bigger car, it looks more imposing but is less maneuverable than the smaller Camaro and Firebird. The smaller cars could be optioned with the engines from the bigger cars and since they are smaller/lighter they can really fly.
Choosing between the same sized 1967 Camaro and it's sibling the Firebird is hard. They have their own good points and it really depends about the specific car at hand because both could have several different engines and trim levels. In the end it probably comes down to personal taste, whether you are a Chevy man or a Pontiac man because the Camaro and Firebird are both GM F body cars (same family platform).
