I am attempting to get a P4, Win ME with USB1 ports to recognize a Lyra RD1071. I have tried the dirver install program that came on the CD and I have downloaded and isnstalled the current version from RCA's Customer Support site. The Lyra displays "Connected to PC" but Windows does not recognize the Lyra. The USB ports work for my camera and my printer.
RCA's specs indicate that Win ME and any USB port is supported.
RCA will not answer my Customer Support requests and I see that others have had similar problems.
Has anyone been successful in getting a Lyra to work on Win ME with USB1 ports?
Thanks,
Bob Sherrill -

Try the following site for drivers for Lyra products:

If you are still looking for the installation disk, I can post the contents onto my ftp/web site for you to download. I am having problems with a 1Gb SD flash memory, for which the Lyra is not able to read all of the MP3s that I have copied - but only reads about half of them (I have tried with MusicMatch, and with drag-and-drop). Now, I am trying to contact RCA support to see if this is a known problem. -

I am not exactly sure what install disk you are looking for. You only need to install drivers for the Lyra if you are connecting it to Win98 or Me, not W2K or WXP. Otherwise, the only thing you need is the firmware update application - but most likely the firmware of your Lyra is already 1.607 (mine is). The CD also contains an install of MusicMatch, but you can download that from MM's site. What you might be missing is the USB cable, with the small connecter for the back of the Lyra. Not sure if this is a standard type of cable, or Lyra-specific. FINAL NOTE: RCA/Thomson support has informed me that the Lyra PDP2488 (aka 1071, in the USA) does *NOT* support SD cards larger than 256 Mb. As you can imagine, I am somewhat *!@#ing
to say the least - as this is not stated on the technical spec of this player. -

aw that's bad ,but i read that some people could use a 512 sd card , about the usb cable i have one that suits on it , so it think it's standard ^^. i use winxp with sp 2 , when i try to upgrade it asks after some drivers that it couldn't find on the pc , so i guess it are the drivers from the install cd .i searched everywhere for that but couldn't find it, also i tought about contacting rca for that but it seems that their support is very bad and that sometimes they even dun reply. If only i could get my hands on those drivers lol . -

I experienced exactly the same problems with my 1GB SD card: only about 150 files are recognized. Do you know if this problem also occurs when using 512MB cards? Did you already receive any info about this from RCA? Any info about this problem is very much appreciated (spent the last two days trying everything to get the damn thing to recognize more files without any luck).
