From Saskatoon,
My wife bought one yesterday at Zellers (Circle mall location) here in Saskatoon. Its $299.97 (CN) + tax. Its not 2Mp though; its 3.3
From the User Manual:
total pixels approx 3.3M
effective pixels aprox. 3.14M
There are 4 image sizes you can take with it:
small 1280x960, medium 1600x1200, large 2048x1536 (= 3.146 Mp), extra large ("via interpolation") 2560x1920
USB interface. It comes with 16 MB of built-in RAM, but can also use a SD card to increase that (we had a 64 MB one that we used with a Palm; it works fine in the camera
. The neat thing (to me; I'm new at this
is that when you plug it in via the USB cable, our computer (win98se) recognizes it as a DRIVE (had to install a driver first BTW; newer win versions will have it already). The pics appear in a directory on that drive and can be viewed, copied and deleted right from windows explorer.
Has a built-in flash, 4x digital zoom and a whole bunch of other little features we'll be playing with. Its our first 'real' digital camera (we've had a 'toy' one for a while) and its quite easy to use. Its somewhat concerning that its not listed as a model on Vivitar's (U.S.-based) website (so where do we get updated drivers?), but it seems to be working fine so far

From Saskatoon,
BTW, the URL on the box is www.gentec-intl.com (the Canadian Importer/Distributor). Their ad page for the Vivicam 3720 is:
http://www.gentec-intl.com/Default.asp?mode=prd & div_id=5 & prod_id=VIVCAM3720
But it doesn't have much info; SRP is $349.95, but as I mentioned in the other reply, Zellers has it for $299.97

From Pittsburgh,
This isn't the exact model, but it's close. May shed some light on Vivitar as a brand..

From Canada,
Hi... Just a question about this camera. I was looking at it today. Does it preview the picture and allow you to OK it, or delete it right away, before the picture is actually saved? Some cameras allow this; others do not. Thanks! -

From Newfoundland,
Just bought one of these yesterday at Future Shop clearance sale here in NL. Canada. 3.3........4x digital zoom. optical much better zoom but as this camera produces high resolution pics.........using digital zoom ( which reduces pixel output overall) still allows zoom pictures to be taken at 2015 x 1655 which is higher than most monitors and some printers support. also this cam cannot be used as a webcam regardless of software version used to run same. it produces quality prints, so so video clips but not web compatible. Best of all..........brand new..........never out of box.............$159 cdn. decent price for a " Real Digital Camera". -

Hi. I just bought one of these the other day to replace my ageing Olympus 1.3 megapixel camera.
I would advise you to leave it alone, as the batteries (3XAAA) just do not last in it. Flash photography is almost non-existent because of this, also, although there is a viewfinder, there is no way of turning off the LCD display, so that drains the batteries too!
I paid £39.95 for it, not too bad at that price, but at anything more - forget it! Shop around and buy a "known" brand. This one will be given to my young kids to play with...
Clive.
