i dont believe there is a hack for svcd. the hardware is physically incapable of playing svcds - yes it is annoying, but you guys (and myself) should have looked into that before buying it.

Hum... I don't understand why you need a crack for that.. it works perfectly. I played VCD, SVCD, XVCD and XSVCD... I use DVD2SVCD to rip and encode my dvd. You will probably need to ajust some parameters to get a perfect playback.. but it works very weel! I have exactly this model of DVD player.. PANASONIC DVD-RV32..

    Good luck!

There is a work-around. You can change the header of the SVCD mpeg to say that it is an mpeg-1 file and then it will play correctly in a panasonic player. To do that you will need TMPGEnc and follow these steps:

    - From the menu select File-MPEG Tools

    - Select the Simple Multiplex (default) tab

    - Browse to the correct file in the video input field

    - Change the Type drop-down to say MPEG-1 VCD Standard

    - Change the name of the output file (default is the same as the input file)

    - Hit start

    - TMPGEnc will do the needful. Note that this doesn't re-encode the file as a VCD. It just fools your player into thinking that the MPEG-2 file is an MPEG-1 vcd.
