Been looking for a while and found that generaly the best are the "K & N generation II" and the "pipercross viper" induction kits. Has anyone got any info on which one is better or an opinion?

I have got pipercross in my mini cooper. not the viper though - the viper is a lot more money and i think the only difference is its quieter. The reason i went for pipercross was because you only have to clean it every service interval and you just have to spray it with special oil. The K & N ones you have to take apart and clean out thoroughly more often. 5bhp difference (so they say) but the noise is fantistic! car runs smoother too.

when i got a pipercross for my 306 i had the same problem, choosing pipercross or k & amp;n. when i asked my local performance centre they pointed me in the direction of the pipercross and even offered to prove the performance increese on a rolling road. i was not dissapointed and as the pipercross was the cheeper of the 2 i was enclined to trust the performance centre.

I have a honda civic 1.6i vtec sport and fitted a k & n 57i Kit but it seems to have taken away power are there any induction kits out there which will give me more bhp?

many less expensive kits do reduce power, as a car needs cooler, thus more dense and holding more oxygen, meaning more explosive power in the block. many cheap kits merely draw in hot air from the radiator, a cold air feed is vital i.e. the pipercross viper. my 182 has one, including a milltek exhaust and decat, ecu remap and new camshafts, and she's pushing out over 225bhp now. 0-60 is down to 5.8 secs, and it'll even keep up with the new s3 with 265bhp, plus she's been dropped 30mm all round, original cup rims of course...

Thats interesting mate- iv got a 182 myself and im looking to buy an induction kit. Was thinking about the K & N Typhoon Induction System, the K & N 57i Induction kit, the Pipercross Viper, or the normal pipercross Induction kit or finally the BMC Filters CDA Induction Kit.

Am basically looking for a good boost in power and a nice sound coming from the engine. As a fellow 182 owner, could you shed any light on which one to get?

Now then mate, ive got a clio 172 and the absolute BEST induction kit you can buy for these cars are the simota forced air induction. they are available from www.evo-s.co.uk and believe me they say a 13bhp gain and i would be inclined to be true! the drawback is that its £250 but its the best modification ive fitted and as my chav friend would say "sounds the sex!"

For the money however I would personally go for the k+n filter for value for money. On most vehicles expect between 3-5 bhp gain which doesnt sound a lot but you will gain throttle respone and a decent induction sound (roar)!!!!
