I've just fixed my SONY DVP-S735D DVD player after leaving it gathering dust in the corner for the last two years with a "no disc" error. It was, as often mentioned, a fuse on the PCB that forms part of the DVD drive enclosure. Since I was past caring and have now gathered many other DVD players, I broke off the two yellow fuses and soldered across the terminals. Once recalibrated the player seems to be fine.
