    My civic uses 185/65-14 tires. A friend has some brand new 185/75-14. Will these fit? i dont know really know anything about tire sizes.

    Yes, the tires will fit. 65 verses 75 just means the thickness of the tire. Low profile tires are usually 40.

    Your tyres are 185 mm wide and fit on a 14 inch diameter rim. the other number (65) is the height of the sidewall, expressed as a percentage of the width. The outside diameter of your tyres can be calculated as 14 inches + 2 x (0.65 * 185 mm), as you have a sidewall thickness at the top and bottom of the rim. Doing the maths I calculate that your tyres are 23.46 inches in diameter, your friend's are 24.92. If you fit the larger tyres you will be travelling 6 % faster at the same speedo reading. There will be associated changes to acceleration and top speed. The handling will be different, but they will fit.
