    does anyone know how to remove macrovision from this unit.It is multy region by default.I use a cheap slave recorder into the dmr-hs2,vision is fine but macrovision knocks the dolby surround sound out and reduces it to stereo.

    Any ideas.

    Is it a chip that has to be replaced?if so with what chip?

    Ace, you should go on the panasonic web site and read the product specs. It states that it only records 2 channel stereo. I don't believe that it has a decoder built in to allow Dolby recording. The technology will be out in the future I'm sure.
