Unlock code or firmware upgrade for Alba 108

I'm looking for a permanent way to enable my Alba 108 to play VCD's.



I know a hack (2812) and others which I have to do everytime I want to play the VCD, however I've read that there might be a permanent, one-off code I can enter, or firmware upgrade to enable permanent playing of VCDs.



Does anyone know where I might get this, or know of it? Any help is greatly appreciated.
