Well first time experience with LCD monitors beware! Don't be taken for a fool. Here's an experience. I have excluded brand or name of company to protect myself from any...... You guys know it.
Purchasing LCD monitors is a dream come true for some people. For me, I wanted a space saver as well a realiable alternative to CRT. I am well aware of the industry standard for LCD monitors regarding it's dead pixel policy, generally most manufacturer will only replace the LCD panel if there are 10 or more dead pixels. Another fault that they will replace if the panel has two or more adjacent dead pixel next to each other.
I have had LCD screen in the past and I know what a 1 dead pixel looks like. I bought a second one recently and upon installing it after purchasing, I found that there was an visible dead pixels, at least larger that 1 dead pixel I had on the other LCD. Closer look reveals that it's more than 1 pixel, not exactly sure how many pixel it was but I can tell you it form a small no "1" figure on the screen. At first I thought it was 2 dead pixels but later on I believed it's 4 dead pixel (Sorry, I don't have a magnifying glass to confirm this).
So I took it back to the reseller/supplier the same day I bought it to claim a new replacement only to discover a trade trick they will use to ensure that it's normal and it's not covered by warranty.
A representative from the company check the LCD screen on the spot with me using different techniques to find the dead pixels. Obvious on a lighter colour but not black background, the representative started telling me it's only one dead pixel for a start, and insisted that it is for 5 minutes. I am not happy and argued and asked him to bring out a magnifying glass to see for himself. I also told him about my experience with 1 dead pixel, and I know how it looked like.
The next thing he did was to bring out an LCD screen from his warehouse to replace with the one I brought in. He tested in front of me. I was not happy for several reasons:
1) He's threatening me by asking me to take the LCD he brought out or take back the originals. The replacement LCD he brought out to test does not convincingly new since he never really opened the box in front of me
2) There was brightness, contrast problems from just looking at the panel. Plus there are black shadows on all 4 corners of the LCD.
Obviously I was furious the way I was treated. First, he said it was only one dead pixel, when he knows more than I do it was more than one dead pixel. Secondly, he tried to swap me with (a probably used/repaired) product. So I insisted I was not happy with such replacement. He went in for the last time and brought out a new on still in the box next. Everything was OK now.
This is not about trying to take advantage of the warranty but it is about honouring your promise. Yes, they hounour their promise in the end but why put such a trade trick hoping that the customer turned away believing it's within the normal production spec when they know they had a faulty product. To me it's a disappointment.
Imagine if a general users had this problem, they would really believe what the company/supplier told them and gone back with a faulty product. Do we really get what we paid for? Are we getting what the seller promise? At the end of the day, it's the manufacturer who will lose out in the long term. -

HI bigbaby, so I wanted know this replaced new TFT LCD monitor that you is dead pixel free? I bought my PC from Dell last than a month ago and they sent me another LCD monitor only to have 2 dead pixels instead of just 1 on my first one. I just wanted to know that there is a chance of getting a perfect one in the end. Thanks
