WAP = Wireless application Protocol



Basically text information displayed on the screen of digital mobile phones equipped with a suitable Wap browser



It has been described as "Teletext on your mobile" which is a faily accurate description as only bare minimum text and limited graphics can be displayed.



It is useful for reading and composing email, football scores etc but can be expensive to run as you are charged from the moment you dial the access number and it can take a minute or two to load and you may find the service unavailable for whatever reason but you still incur the charge
