You can see from the official Tascom website forum that this unit has had many problems. Firstly Eeprom upgrade, then still unexplained problems. A lot of dissatisfied customer and Tascom seem to be turning their backs on loyal customer. They have stated that the CD-302 will not be upgraded to solve remaining probs.
i.e buy a new Tascom when it comes out!
Tascam is a great name for audio equipment, but this is their first attempt at competing with the 'big boys' in the Dj market and I think they need more road time.
If you want a top quality product go for the Pioneed CMX-3000. If you want specificially scratching and good scratching which really does sound as good as analog turntables you need to got for Pioneer CDJ-800 or the more expensive CDJ-1000 Mk2.
Probably Denon has good rivals, but firstly I have no experience with Denon and secondly Pio CDJ's are the industry std in clubs (as Technics turntables are). There must be a good reason for that.

Yeh I own the cd 302 (model from yr 2000) I love it because I know it but I'm just a bedroom dj.
Sometimes buttons stick, but my biggest beef is with the master tempo. Mess with it and you get an echo or reverb on the track. That should be huge to the pro, but not me.
My homeboy has the Pioneer... very tight with better scratch (really only good for the rewind) function, but it doesnt have the 10 sec sampler the CD 302 has... which I love.
Play with it before you buy for sure - peace

well yes and no.
Cd-302 can be great, but know that a lot of attention and a few fixes has to be placed on it.
Eprom upgrades is actually a plus, allowing improvements to be added, though Tascam has gone thru changes and the last -till now- official word is that there will be no more ups.
Sticky butons have a factory fix costing US$10, or you may do a simple home mode to solve it. Some other butons (the smaller) might need change after a year or 2 of heavey use.
The Flanging sound was fixed and detailed in the closed down official Tascam forums. Luckily a NEW unofficial one is starting, lets move it! find it in a google seach with the unofficial Tascam forums, words search.
The machine is built as a tank and has plenty of room for mods specially considering that it is the only one fully reconfigurable: almost every parameter can be adjusted to your liking.
And yes, sensitivity also.
The manual is simple for basics, but can get complicated if you dig.
For CD-302 owners i would recommend ge to that forum and start getting much more from it.
For prospective buyers I would warm: you will have to put a lot of energy into it ande having an around the corner technician or an electronics friend will definitelly help to unleash its power.
So pbbly the best advise is get it cheap, it can be bought new(with the latest soft version iincluded V4.6) for US$400 on reputed sellers at Ebay, and expect to expend some US$ more mostly on the tech to help you.
It is a fun ride in all respects, that can be frustrating if you just want to just plug it and get everything perfect.
