Guys...I've got a Panasonic DMRE30 and can record DVD-R's. I've found that these will NOT play on the Naiko 2081..tried a couple of Naiko boxes and I've used five different types of DVD-R media..funny thing is I tried a DVD-R created on a DVD-RW (PC based) and it worked fine..could be a compatability thing with the Panasonic, although the discs I cut with the panny work ok on Hitachi,Toshiba and Pcific boxes..bit of a pain really..anyone got the Macrovision hack yet ?
Another thing on another forum one guys suggests playing the DVD player through a digi receiver , Sky or freeview (need 2 scarts)then connecting the digi box to your video then video to telly and this might get over the Macrovision..I'll try thi sout and feedback (hope u followed the above ok !) -

I received a Naiko N-2081 recently as a gift. Upon reading information in regard to the DVD player been a multi region I borrowed a couple of region one DVDs from a friend. While both of these DVDs did indeed play (with no hacks required) the quality was quite poor. They were very "jerky" almost like the DVD player was missing the occasional frame. Is there something wrong with my DVD player or have others noticed a similar problem with their Naikos when playing region one DVDs? Is there a hidden menu available on the 2081 -

Does anyone know how to turn of the zoom OSD. When I try to zoom a widescreen DVD on my 4:3 TV, the "x2" is displayed permanently in the corner. Any ideas on how to get rid of this? Or am I doing something wrong with the DVD setup?
Cheers. -

I find this common on the players I've used. You have to switch the player to output NTSC to get a smooth output. This does presume that your TV is able to deal with an NTSC input. -

Hello all
for those people watching R1 DVD's and complaining about jerky playback, its because the player is interpolating the NTSC signal as a PAL50 signal (its chopping out 10 frames/sec). To get smooth playback, go into the menus and set the TV output to be multistandard, rather than PAL or NTSC, you should then still get a PAL signal out of the back but it will be @ 60 Frames/sec as intended - beware that some older TV's do not like 60 frames/sec and thus may display the video output in a skewed manner.
hope this helps

I had this problem when I connect DVD > > VCR > > TV. Try connecting DVD directly to the TV...should work fine -

OK, For all that have been requesting it. HEre is the region hack for the Naiko N1170A DVD Player:
1. Open DVD Tray, make sure that there is no DVD in it (Keep tray open during all of the process)
2. On the remote, press the following in this order:
SETUP
STOP
SKIP BACK
SKIP FORWARDS
On the menu you should see a new menu item has appeared called "Version"
Select this, and towards the bottom of the menu there will be an item "Region Code" and a "2" next to it.
Scroll down to "Region Code" and press Play to edit the number now type in 0 for multi-region, 1 for Region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on upto region 8. Press Play again to confirm, then setup.
Now you will be back at the main screen, insert your new other region DVD disc, and let it play. Enjoy!
