I had a 3-year old Ericsson, which I always used with a headset, but I thought I wanted to buy a new one, to be sure about it being low in radiation. I got a Sony Ericsson T200. Within the first day I noticed a strange feeling in my hand when I was using it for SMS and for just editing the phone book, or just carrying it around. Even worse when calling. Changing hands made the sensation start in the other hand as well. Putting it in my pocket, well, the sensation showed up there. I never had that sensation with my old phone... And I am a scientist, by habit very sceptical to all kinds of "electrical allergies" and so on, but this is so obvious I can't ignore it. Anyone has the same experience? This is getting scary, and I have no idea how to find a phone that I trust. I turned it in to the shop again, since it has several other problems, and it will be really interesting to see what they will answer... -

I had the same problem! It's not just the Sony Ericsson T200's either. I changed from a digital nokia 5160 to a Nokia 3590 "next generation" phone with "GSM" service. My new phone would give my boyfreind and I headaches and made our hands hurt just from holding it. My hands would twich after I held it for a few minutes,(even after I put the phone down). Needless to say I took it back! The Att Wirless store employees acted like I was a crazy person when I told them what the problem was. It didn't matter what they thought though, because it hadn't been 30 days since I bought it. I could still exchange it. I picked up a Sony Ericsson T300 and the problem went away. If we hold it for a long time it still feels like there's pressure or a tightness in our hands. It's a lot better than what we had. I'm not sure what the phone manufacturers are doing differently with the "next generation" phones but I NEVER felt anything with my digital phone and service. -

I too get this strange tingling sensation as well. I've had a Nokia 3310 for the past couple of years that has never given me the slightest sensation. Then I bought a Sony Ericsson T300 a few months ago. If I used it quite a few times during a day I would slowly build up this tingling sensation in the hand I was using it with. I originally thought it had to do with using the GPRS functions of the phone, but now I don't think so. Just using the functions on the phone repeatedly seemed enough to do it. I took that phone back and got my money back. But being a glutten for punishment I went and bought a Nokia 7210. Guess what? I get the same tingling sensations. Again, the onset of symptoms is much faster if I use a GPRS function or make several voice calls with the phone, but just playing with the phone functions is enough to create a slight sensation for me. There is definately something strange about these 'new generation' phones. Admitedly I've never actually met anyone who has a similar problem with these new phones. -

Hi all. My comment isn't related to the Sony Ericsson device, but I found this thread while searching for anything to do with GPRS devices and a tingling sensation. In June my company issued a Blackberry 7280 to me and within a few days I began to notice an occasional tingling sensation on my hip in the exact place where I kept the Blackberry on my belt. It could be at any time of day, with or without the Blackberry actually hanging there.
My old Blackberry (a model 957) ran on a different wireless network and I never felt anything unusual like this.
I'm a natural skeptic of complaints where technology / science are involved (no, people, the space shuttle doesn't create holes in the ozone layer) but I was taken aback by this. When I started to ask my I.T. Director about it, he immediately knew what I was about to say and said that he'd felt the same thing.
I've seen several articles on the Internet backing up this same sensation. This really worries me. What is it doing to me? What will happen to me if I keep that on my belt every day for the next ten years?
