Anyone else had a complete power failure on a 1010? have tried the plug fuse and still nothing. Is there an internal fuse that blows easily, or a known problem with this model dying?

    Cheers

if it is under waranty take it back,if not open the casing (not plugged in!!!)and look for an internal fuse on on the power supply board,if there is one you can get a replacement of the correct specification from "Maplin's " or any good electrical shop for less than a quid,if it is more serious, for the cost of a new player against the cost of repair,I would choose the new player.

    Good Luck

I bought one last year some time and just recently it has started playing up. when powered up the lights flicker but the player doesn't work. also just recently it has started freezing during playback. Have you had any luck with fixing yours?

Well, my problem was just a power failure in a complete sense. Tesco replaced the machine and it has been fine thus far. Between friends and family we now have 5 Dansai 1010's and this has been the only fault so far. My advice is get it back to Tesco and complain like mad, for all their faults Tesco are usually sympatehetic to faults just out of guarantee.

In relation to repairing Dansai's, well, speaking as an engineer there isn't a lot you can do. If parts fail they are not readily available, and in any case there isn't much inside to go wrong that can be serviced. Its a DVD Rom drive, a power supply, and a small PCB controlling the whole thing.

Sounds like the power supply breaking down, check the voltage regulator on the circuit board, with it off of course.

I have got onof these 1010 things in bits the power supply has failed for thr tec,s among us 3 1000uf caps have expanded and as far as I can see one uf4007 diode has gone o/c I really need a circuit diagram but I might take pot luck and repalace a few suspect bits and see what happens
