    My daughter has just bought this player. No trouble playing SVCD but it does not play VCD, although it is included on the technical specification. Has anyone been able to find out how to play VCD?

    It's a good player on the surface, it can play CD-Gs but the damn thing will not play VCDs and I've been on the net all night looking for a hack but with no luck at all! If anyone finds anything I would be very very grateful! Please email me.

    Ok! I've found out a way to play your VCDs but its a bit messy and you need a rewriter. You have to put the VCD into the cd or DVD rom, find the file called AVSEQ01.DAT (This is in the MPEGAV directory), copy it to your hard drive somewhere, desktop is a good place to remember! Stick a blank CDR (or CDRW as I used) in the writer and write the AVSEQ01.DAT file directly to the CD, I used Nero with ISO1 (Mode2/XA). Stick the CD in your Compacks player, a menu will come up with the file showing, highlight it and press play and hey presto! I'm still interested in a proper VCD hack if anyone finds it! Hope this is of use in the meantime though.

    Finally found it folks! It took a lot of emails and begging but here it is, this link will take you to the page that shows you how to enable VCDs, it takes seconds! Let us know how you get on, it worked a treat with me.

    the web site has pages and how to vcd enable and make the player region free. Has anyone found this player anygood?i am tempted for the small price of £79.99.

    I bought one of these from Safeways last Sunday - it's my first dive into the world of DVD (although my computer has one!!) I'm very impressed - it does everything I want it to do and I'm going to try the hacks too! I love the fact that it plays JPEGs - you can have a great slide show on the telly!!! Great that it plays MP3s too!



    Does anyone know if there is a hack or something to allow it to play those enhanced sections you get on music CDs??

    i've got this player and its very good. I have tried picture discs and vcd aswell as normal cd and dvd, the all work.



    I am having trouble getting mp3 to play though, the player reads trhe disc and lists the songs but just skips over the tracks when i play them, any ideas how to sort this out.
