dvd player bought from abroad!

strange one this, aiwa 178-xr, not yur average dvd player, it played hong kong dvd's and uk for a few weeks but now its locked onto uk dvd's! i've heard this happens after 5 dvd's on some pc dvd-rom drives but not on consumer players... i've heard about aiwa hi-fi remote but i need advice! my star wars episode 1 is on hong kong dvd and i cant watch it!!! help much appreciated and maybe even a kiss on the cheek seeing as it's xmas season!!
