Ive recently bought a nissan micra, however while accelerating a whistling noise is heard at 49mph. What is this caused by?

Also the gearbox clunks from under the car intermitently when im changing from first to second gear, coulds this be because a new gearstick spring is needed?

Advice would be greatly appreciated.
