Sl45 backup and firmware update?

I am reluctant to lock my phone up, so is there a way to make a backup before applying a firmware update?



Has anyone extracted the v19 firmware?



Also, has anyone successfully unlocked the v52? I really want to have a functional phone...

First sorry but this FORUM don't support open lines (from the ENTER key) this is annoying me and maybe you too.



Here a little tutorial about the safe unlocking a SL45.



tools:

1. UNISiemens Professional (only Flash+dongle emu)

2. sl45_52 Firmware

3. the JavaAktivator

4. logger402

5. a3xmapmaker

step1: making a backup

after unzipping all software go to the directory of UNISiemens....go to the sub-dir where you see the .exe file. before you run the program you have to start the dongle emu, for this you go to DongleEmmu- > emmm- > Siemens emmulator.exe- > File- > Open- > Emul.kpe. then just press on the button: ENABLE EMULATOR at the options menu? (sorry I'm now in win2000 and can't start the dongle emu

If the Dongle Emu is started you see in your systembar (beside the clock) a GREEN LIGHT. if it's RED something went wrong. Oké if it's GREEN

then start the program 'UniSiemens.exe'.(2 sub-dir below).



Unisiemens.

You have to put your phone off and put the SIM out(I did), the mmc in te socket is no problem.

connect with a data cable to the computer.



When the program starts wait for a minute (you'll see the dongle emu switching from Green to Red, and then back to GREEN). If the DONGLE is GREEN then select your phone type in the menu below the picture (for SL45, use sl4x, select the right comport, and press with the mouse on READ FLASH, the program says 'scanning...' now press the POWER button on your phone SHORT (not long enough that it wil start up), no the program will make a backup of your FLASH. after it's done (sometimes it stuck on 99%???) then push the SAVE FILE button and five up a name. repeat this process with the READ EEPROM button.

You have now a backup.



Step2: Upgrading to version 52.

I don't know why but I had written my original IMEI on a piece of paper, maybe you can do too.

go in the directory of the SL45_52 and run SL45i_v52.EXE (do this only when your phone is connected with the datacable.) First (info) screen. Press OK.



follow next steps:

1. Press 'Serial Config'

2. Select the right comport number

3. select 115200 as Baud.

4. Press OK

5. Check the both "Skip"boxes

6. Press the START button.

7. Press the POWER button on your phone SHORT!!!

8. Wait about 10 minutes.

9. Your phone is updated.



Test your phone right now. (first put of the datacable). if it seems to be dead (like mine looked like), then try to put of the battery and place it back in it's holder and try again. If it's right it works, if it don't works try to put your backup back.



Step3: Using of the JAVAaktivator.

for using JAVA applications you have to activate the JAVA option with a program.



1.Start javaaktivator (sl4x_java.exe)

2.press the button "Einverstanden!" (agree)

3.wait 10 seconds.

4.go to the optionen tab and select right comport only (the baud must be 57600) for safe update.

5.go back to the "Info Seite" TAB

6.Press the button "Verbinden" (connect)

7.the press the button "JAVA freishalten"

8.It asks if it may program the eeprom,confirm (ja or OK)

9.it will say it completed the process.



If you updated your phone version to v54 then you have to check the box "FullBlock 5005" before pressing the "Java freischalten" button.



Step4: Unlocking the phone.

for the unlock proces you will need 2 programs (Logger402 and a3xmapmaker).



Follow the steps:

1. run logger402 (logger402.exe)

2. Go to the TAB "Logger"

3. select the right model under "Model:"

4. connect the phone again (off and without SIM) to the computer.

5. you can change the comport number at the "Port Settings" Tab (leave the Baud number)

6. press the "Read phone" button.

7. It will display a new box with the old IMEI and new IMEI, most time the old IMEI will all be 0 (zero). you can change your IMEI or just fill in your original (paper is your friend :- > ). The last number you can't fill in this one will be calculated by the program and would be the same number as your last (it's all right).

8. Press "OK" (or something).

9. Press "SAVE LOG" button and give up a name.

10. Close the program for now!



open with notepad the LOG file.

delete the text VERSION 4.00

You see there is NO space after the "LOG File." line.



SAVE this LOG file





Start a3xmapmaker (A3X#Part2.exe)

1. Go to the "IMEI CHANGE" TAB.

2. Press "Open log"

3. Open the Log file you saved in Notepad

4. Now press the "SAVE MAP" Button.



Start the Logger402 again.

1. Go to the "WRITE IMEI" TAB

2. Select your phone type.

3. Press the "OPEN MAP" button

4. select your MAP file

5. Press the "WRITE IMEI" button.

6. Press the POWER button on your phone SHORT (You know how to do this, right?)



after it says in it's status bar "completed"

disconnect your phone from your computer and try to start (if it seems to be dead, do the battery check). Now it will start and your have an unlocked SL45i v52 phone!!! goodluck

I have a SL45 with FW 16. I wanted to upload FW 52 or 54 so I DLed files and tired. but i keep getting the message



"Cant connect to Mobile with BootstrapLoader on Com 1"



any one knows the reason for this please reply.

please could someone tell me how to activate t9 predictive text under firmware 54. I have upgraded 2 fw54, but the phone does not allow me to select the t9 prefereed box in the sms options.
I tried using javaactivator (german version) but had no luck with it.
Could someone send me a link were i can download the english T9 language file of siemens or elsewere as this may be the problem.
Only after getting english version of firmware 55 and java activator, hope this might work.
p.s does anyone now if firmware 55 solves the T9 problem which i am currently having problems with.
