Hi, I think the insurance should be ok for a 17yr old on a 1.3. try tesco, they were cheap for me when i had my 1.6cl. although i was an added driver to my dads insurance, makes it much cheaper (£193 for a 17yr old on a 1.6) but of course you get no, no claims built up. I'm now 18 and drive a 1.8cl with pretty much everything done to it (highlift cam, rear disc conversion racing exhaust including manifold, fast road clutch, short shift, racing pulley, lowered. etc. quite a lot of stuff, the car is mint and i picked it up for £950 with most of the stuff already done, everyone thinks its a GTi, and it can leave some of them behind! best thing is, my insurance is £300!!!....still want a G60 tho...

i had a 1.3 once and i got 65mph out of second and 70mph out of third but the only messed up thing was that the top speed was 95mph.now iv got a 16v but i haven't tested it yet, il let u know the results when i do.

i have a 1.3 golf mk2 and i no for a fact they will do well over 100mph

i have a 1.3 golf mk2 and i no for a fact they will do well over 100mph





.........er, not according to Volkswagen. Says 54bhp, 93mph in the manual.

eh here iv just bought a mk2 driver 1.6 for £300 , canny decent condition lyk but the insurance is about 2 and a half grand sicknaa but thats probably because of my age , 17.
