If you are interested in copying DVD to VHS you will have realised that if you try to copy a DVD the copy will keep flashing the screen will flicker and it is an unpleasent viewing experience. However, if you buy a macrovision disabler you can copy DVD movies perfectly. I have a Macro Master from www.sonel.com which removes all macrovision. I can not only copy DVD it also allows me to copy movies form Pay per view movie channels and copy Disney videos which also have macro protection. The macro master only costs £30. I copy rented DVD's and pay per view movies form Sky Box office. The macromaster just looks like a scart lead but has a power supply which you plug in to 1 end of the scart. It is great so buy it. Any more info u need just post it!!

I have just purchased a Philips DVDR 880.
When I tried to copy one of my pre-recorded DVD, I had the 'copy protect' message on the recorder and it just won't copy, it won't even start to record.
Will the Macromaster cure this or is there another signal that the DVDR picks up?
Thanks for your time and help.

The Sonel device doen't work for DVD-R machines as far as I can see. I have one and have just purchased a Panasonic DVD-R and get the same problem as you, even with the Sonel cable. It even fails if I make a copy to VHS and then try to copy the copy. I believe Sonel have a new Macro Master Gold cable that is supposed to support DVD recorders but it is £50 -

Mighty Mouse - Have you found the Macro Master Gold to be any good. I have the 'plain' old Macro Master, and might as well not have bothered. -

They call it Macro Master Pro and it cost £19.99 well £23 with postage. They have gone up in the world with new blister packaging as well. So yes Im very pleased.
