Need Help to Re-install Front Panel Retaining Clips

I have an old Maytag washer. I carefully followed instructions from a repair manual to release the two front panel clips and remove the front panel. Now I can't figure out how to re-install the two lid clips so that I can put the front panel back on the washer. I don't remember what position the clips were in when I removed the front panel and now no position seems to catch the lid and the washer body to hold the front panel in place. Can someone describe how to re-install the clips? Thanks for your help.
