    I bought a second-hand Hitachi widescreen CRT television (model: C28W510TN) – 5 years old.

The following day, I accidentally tripped over the power cord, which was a few inches off the ground. The result of this is that the cord, attached to the set, was given a strong yank.

However, the cord remained firmly attached to the set, which was a relief.

I turned the set on to see if any damage had been done by the strong pull to the cord.

Once a picture appears on the screen the set works well. However, I’m concerned about the length of time the picture takes to appear.

The start up sequence goes like this:

    1. Press the On button
    2. Screen remains black for 4 seconds
    3. Screen becomes grey for 1 second
    4. Screen returns to black, with the words ‘BBC 1’ at the top left, and remains this way for 2 seconds
    5. The picture appears.

If this is a defect, do you anticipate it, in time, getting worse, to the point that the set will cease to function?
