If there are any reptile people around here, I'd like to ask for some feedback. I can see there isn't much activity in this forum, but Its about certain reptile setup products and since they're not offered on this site for reviews I can't get feedback that way. I was going to ask about regular uvb versus combo heat/uvb like mvbs. One of my tortoises has been on mercury vapor bulbs for his indoor setup, but I'm going to have to stop using those for personal reasons. So I'm going to have to figure out what type of lighting I'm going to provide for him from now on. I have my bearded dragons on Zilla's desert series, T8 50 microwatt uvb tubes. I really like them. They're the new ones that came out last year. I am probably going to get those, but I wanted to see what other tortoise owners use for their indoor setups. Do most use mvbs? -

As I already said in another quote, since theres not much activity, you might not find a lot of people on here who have reptiles, much less get any advice. I recommend a reptile forum. But anyway, one of the main differences is that mercury vapors give off a lot of heat. I've heard some people say mvb combos have been known to overheat. Whatever, but the point is, you can use either regular uvb or combo mvbs. My beardies are on zilla desert lights too. I really like them and can understand what you mean when you said you came here for product advice since this site doesn't have a lot of reptile products as it is. Also, if it helps, though I don't have tortoises, I read somewhere about someone having those for a tortoise. So I think you're good.
