I`d buy the Lighting mate it`s got a bomb-proof reputation as good reliable workhorse.

Plus if you do ever need any spares or advice you`ll get BSA`s excellent customer service which is second to none.

Just make sure you get a .22 though as .177s are for girls Wink

Druid - you just had to didn't you -huh? Surprised It was all nice and peaceful and quiet (too quiet) on here and then you had to mention 'that'.

Anyway, in that sort of price range I like my Cometa Fenix 400 - though it might be a bit heavy for some people. I guess it all depends on what you want to use it for.

    And, harrump, IT'S A .22 DONCHA KNOW - A MAN'S CALIBRE! Very Happy

Funnily enough despite my lifelong loyalty to `Mans Size` I`m actually now thinking of crossing over to the Dark Side by downsizing to the `allegedly swings both ways calibre` of .20
Indeed a Theoben Rapid of that ilk is still firmly on my Xmas wish list Cool

Unfortunately every time I bring up the subject of Air Rifles being used for everyday vermin control I get a slightly quizical look that says
"What -Those things will actually kill a rabbit?!"

Yes; since taking up residency in `The Land Of NO Air Guns` as far as I can tell .20 Cal seems to be the best way to go and this is only because apparently there is A Bloke up in Queensland who can get a proper ie; Rest of the World - multi shot PCP for about 3 times as much as you`d pay for it anywhere else.

The choice of thousands of amazing state of the art ARs are a complete mystery to most Australian Shooters and `Slug Guns` (as they are so often rudely described) are`nt even considered as a serious option for any sort of hunting.

Sure you often stumble across somebody who knew someone once who had an uncle whom had a knackered old springer in a shed at the bottom of his garden. He once shot a cane toad with it but the Police found out and confiscated it off him plus fined him AUS$500 for having it without the correct telephone directory of paperwork.

    For Heavens Sake!!

There's justice for ya...wouldn't want any one to whack a cane toad with springer. Whew! I'm sure glad they caught the guy. I can only imagine it was only a matter of time til it lead to rampid chaos and WWIII.

I guess it doesn't matter what you use.... In the past I have used a 6 ftlbs .177 air pistol on rabbits and squrrels, but the minimum I would use or recommend is .177 runnng about 9 ftlbs.
