As the title says, I have dual crossman Auto Air 2. They are semi-automatic and fire 18 rounds each. They were purchased at the same time and are both evenly used and same age. I've used about 5 co2 containers on each during their 6 year lifetime. So they really aren't used much. I had them put away for about 2 years, just took them out now and am noticing one is much weaker than the other.

I've used 3 co2 containers each last night to test things out. The one with more power gives me about 70-80 rounds while the one with less power gives almost twice that much. The one with more power will lodge it's bb's in wood even if i stand 25-30ft away. The weaker one won't even pierce an empty pop can at that range, only topple it over. The strong one will create some crazy sparks when fired on asphalt while the weak will just have a small "tick" sound. So the difference is quite substantial.

I opened the weak-powered one up, nothing looks wrong. The way this gun works is that the spring loaded hammer hits the spring-loaded nipple on the cylinder in which the co-2 container is attached and momentarily lets out air. (not sure if they all work this way.)

So, from what I believe, either the spring on the hammer is too weak and is unable to push the nipple on the cylinder long enough for a good amount of air to leak out, or the spring in the cylinder itself has somehow become stiff and is too strong for the hammer.

Is there a way to fix this?

    thanks!

It could be a dozen things.."hammer"...valve....grimlins???? I have an expensive 1911 Colt replica that has some of the best reviews out there. It's never had enough power to sneeze at. It's accurate, but really under powered. i suppose I could have the spring changed out but I've never gone beyond basic stuff. It seems that this happens from time to time. The manufacture could probably answer the question and if it's fairly new thay might even correct it. Wish i could help more.
