    Hey there,
I recently bought a Fender CD-60 acoustic guitar, and when it arrived I was shocked to see it set up with steel strings. I always thought that acoustics were strung with nylon. Would it harm the guitar to re string with nylon strings as I prefer the sound? I already have a fender strat for that electric sound.

Hi I would not try to do that, the tension of steel and of nylon strings are very different and the neck of the guitar will be expecting a certain pull and if that is not given the neck might, I suspect, get a bit distorted...

For a nylon string guitar look for classical acoustic guitars rather than acoustic guitars as they are very different. As far as the sound between Steel string acoustic and electric is concerned, all three types of guitars have their individual sound characteristics, so I don't think you have bought the guitar in vain...
