Depends on what you want. Pelets will be more accurate...the rifling will work with them. On the other hand there are bb guns that will shoot more rounds per load ect. it also depends on what you want to spend. i never worried much about exact replica air pistols. I got the Colt .45 1911 replica and it looks nice, shoots accuratly, but isn't very powerful. Any more info about what you're interested in? Maybe go to Pyramyd's or some other good web sight and look around at what's available. -

Don't hold your breath waiting for a response from this forum... it seems pretty inactive.
As far as I can tell the Anics a3000 seems to be the best with its rotating belt 28round magazine. The two biggest drawbacks with this are (i) Unless the rounds are put into the magazine properly using the tool provided it can lead to jams (though you can use almost any kind of round and mix them in one load of the magazine).
and (ii) The trigger pull requires some effort.
The pistol is rated at around 450fps muzzle velocity... the next best as far as I can tell is the Gamo P23 at 410fps
HOWEVER
There is the updated Anics A3003 blackbird.
This has all of the features of the A3000 but with much reduced trigger pressure and a muzzle velocity in excess of 450fps.
Now while I am convinced that what I write is accurate... I don't own one myself. I've been looking for a rview by an expereinced user and an attractive price.

Daveydw,
I myself have seen mixed reviews on the anics range, and whilst never used one, wouldnt buy one either. Thats just me.
I am in the same boat as you, in that i am currently looking for a c02 pistol. From what research i have done regarding which co2 pistol to buy, i have decided on the Smith and Wesson 586 8" revolver. Just looking around now for best price.
When reading 'owners' reviews of this model, it appeared to tick many boxes, more so than many other pistols. Things like build quality, reliability, a 10 shot rotating mag, over 400 fps, grip, co2 lastability, realistic weight etc. Also to note is that it is one co2 pistol, that can fire both bb's and pellets.
This thing is very highly rated, especially the 8" barrel which provides the best accuracy / power out of the 3 barrell sizes being 4" 6" and the 8. try find some reviews and have a read.
