Help with GHD Iron

My boyfriend just bought me one of these irons for X-mas. I was using it the other day and it shut off. I thought Oh the automatic shut off has kicked in. So I unplugged it and plugged it back in and NOTHING!! I tried it in 3 different sockets in my house and NOTHING!! Does anyone have any idea as to what could have happened?? He bought it online and I got rid of the box and everything because it was to bulky to keep around. NOW LOOK....................... HELP
