Charges for Changes

Having booked a flight with BMI Baby, I came to realise the date for the return flight was actually incorrect. I read the terms and conditions and as far as I could tell, I would have to pay any difference in cost between the old and new date flight, and the changing fee of £20 p/p. That sounds relatively reasonable, but on changing my flight, I have basically been charged all over again. The original cost came to £200, and now that I've changed the return flight, I'm having to pay for both flights all over again. That doesn't make sense to me at all, I'm basically paying for one set of flight twice. I understand having to pay for the return flight that I changed, but the outgoing flight too? and I'm paying for all the extraa (baggage, sets etc) all over again. Is this actual policy or has there been an error? I cant get my head around why I'm paying twice for one set of flights. It's now costing me half a grand for a three day trip, just for flights. Can anyone illuminate the situation for me please?
Thanks
