Hi-I want to spread the word about a fantastic health club I have found in Coventry-Attiva Health Clubs. They also have Attiva Uttoxeter and Attiva Andover and even one for your holidays in Barbados!!! On the website there are others opening soon and apparently it's a franchise so keep looking for one to open one near you or open one yourself!!
It's such a relaxing atmosphere that feels like home from home with no mirrors, soft lighting and friendly staff who are so helpful-even the management are so approachable.
Programmes are worked out to suit your current levels of fitness with no intimidating gym instructors standing over you and pushing you so hard you dread returning next time. They seem to have promotions and various classes and something different happening all the time and don't seem to be like the other run of the mill gyms where they lose interest in you as soon as you pay your money. they are there to support you all the way and so encouraging.
I have noticed a drop in my weight already and love the fact that my dress size has changed as I tone up gradually. I can't speak high enough of them as I am so grateful through reading reviews on the Attiva Clubs that I plucked up the courage to join and now wonder why on earth I didn't do it years ago. Thanks Attiva..you have changed my life for the better 100%

Hi fairygodmother, I'm glad you're having such a positive experience in Coventry, however I'm afraid things are very different here in Uttoxeter. We have lots of mirrors, although I don't mind that; I find them useful. More importantly, the centre here has been open less than a year and already half the staff have left - the most experienced ones, at that - and many of the classes have been cut. It feel very much as if now they've signed up a certain number of people who are paying their fees each month, the owners don't care about maintaining standards any more. That may not be true in fact, but it's certainly the main perception among centre users. The remaining staff are trying hard to keep things going, but morale is understandably low as they are getting lots of complaints from people who are hacked off because they're not getting what they were promised. I do think the Attiva concept is a good one, but right now it's not working here. If anyone is considering joining an Attiva centre, I would recommend that they ask some searching questions about consistency, retention of full-time staff and freelancers, staff morale, and strategies for managing any problems in these areas that might arise in future.
