first time use of memory card in camera

My friend has no computer and so uses the Klix shop.
In Peru last week she had filled her 512 memory card and put in the 1mb one her nephew bought for her.
We have reviewed the pictures taken and they are good but the lady in the Klix shop tried all of her machines and they couldn't see any of the pictures.
What has she done wrongly?
Can anything be done to retrieve the pics which she normally has printed and also put on a CD to save?
