I said I come back and comment on the Umarex 1911 Colt when i had time. I had high hopes for this pistol as all the reviews were so great. I simply forgot it for a while as I was rather disappointed in it. I suppose it depends on what you are looking for. It is a good looking gun, and it handles nice. It works like the actual 1911 in that the grip saftey works etc. Unfortunatly it's a very, underpowered pistol. I haven't chronoed it, but the single action is worthless. i actually had it fail to push a pellet out of the mag. in single action (and it was only the second mag. through on the cylender). Even in double action, it feels like one of those co2 pistols that allows you to watch the pellet fly to the target they're so slow. I'll try it again in warmer weather of course, but it was 70 degrees when Ishot it. It may be that I'm just to enamered with high power air guns, but in spite of how nice the pistol is in other ways, for the cost, $195.95 it should do better. I would be very surprised if it was actually producing 425 fps. -

My friend has the Beretta 92SF version of the Umarex pistol.. The power was about 3.5-4 ft/lbs at best, Not very powerfull atall. But for 10 yard target shooting and nocking over cans it was good. Accuracy, when I got used to it was about 3" in single action, the trigger was so heavy because it had to cycle the pellet magazine every dang time.
But the pistol was an absolute stunner to look at, very realistic and approximatly the same weight as the real thing. Minus the ammunition. -

Ya, that seems to be the selleing point on these pistols. I think it's just that I'm more looking for a field pistol. This one is great for light target shooting. -

When you say field pistol do you mean for shooting live quarry or for more long range precision stuff??
If thats what your after, I do not know of many pistols that would do what you want.
Rohm Twister I think is a good bet, Gamo does an airpostol thats supposed to be for a trainer instead of the .22LR target pistols.. But in most cases, I would say that a .22LR pistol with lower powerd ammunition is probably the best bet, especialy condiering how easy they are to get in america. Shame they are illegal over here. -

No, never live quary with this pistol, it would never do. This is for targets, I meant either paper or "other". Set up a range do some fun shooting that kind of thing. I wouldn't even shoot a small rodent with it. This is a pistol the selling point of which is how much it looks like the real firearm. -

Fair eneugh.
For that purpose then, I'd say its a pretty good gun, I would like a .22 Pistol. Or even maybe something more powerfull. I'd love a .45. Dam laws

I think a .22 could be made, but this pistol would require a major re-work to get the power up enough to drive the heavier pellet. -

I bought a new Colt 1911 a few weeks ago and was very impressed with the feel, loading, accuracy and look of it. Now it lacks the power to push a pellet all the way along the barrel even with a new Co2 capsule. What I thought would be the best Co2 pistol I have bought has turned out to be the worse. My Beretta 92 trigger is harder but at least the Beretta is consistant. Not a cheap price for a pistol that does not operate properly.
