Clio Phase 1 172, HELP!

Hey, I've been looking at Clio 172s Phase 1 and have falling in love with them as far as looks and performance figures are concerned, however i do need some help! If i buy one it MUST last me three years while im at uni therefore i need to no about running costs - fuel economy, potential breakdowns etc etc and how reliable they are! I'm looking to spend £3000 - £3500 which would buy me a 2000/2001 plate with roughly between 60,000 to 80,000 miles on the clock! Any help would be massivley appreciated!

(Any info on performance wouldn't go a miss neither )
