Need a tripod and remote control for canon ixus 75

hi, i have a canon ixus 75. i need a tripod but i don't know how they attach so i don't know if i can just buy any tripod. the ixus 75 has a screw thing underneath, is that universal? also, i want to get a remote control or extension cable or whatever so i can take a picture without touchign the camera. any suggestions?
