Any one know the best way to get rid of all sorts of house hold pests
We have thousands of flies in our attic, I did try fly stickers but they keep overwhelming them.. a few tins of fly spray seems to be effective at the moment.. I did purchase an industrial toxic smoke bomb device, but others have stated that they last for anywhere between 5 - 10 mins and release HUGE amounts of smoke.. as they are designed to be used in grain silo's, bit scared to use such a device as there is no way to efficiently ventilate the attic due to no roof windows..
Also, I have a suspicion that we may have a few bats in our attic... I know these are legally protected and I am unsure how to go about remove these creatures without hurting them..
Any information would be appreciated

I don't really know how you can eradicate the problem, but I know the preservation of the bats is a very problematic situation, so you must be very careful or you may land in a bit of bother with the local council authority, I'm not really sure of the capacities of those UV light zapper gadgets which may help reduce the numbers or how safe they would be located in an attic, I wonder if addressing what is attracting the flies would ultimately be the best solution, the cold weather which is now well on the way, the removal of dead flies is very important however as they become a food source for beetles, I'll have a bit of a look about and see if I can find anything on a few pest control web pages

cheers, at the moment we have the fly situation under control, fly sticky papers, and fly spray on a regular basis is killing them in their hundreds and thankfully they are becoming less, as regarding the bats, they are present in the attic but only in the one corner where there are no lights, traces of bat droppings can be found on a regular basis although not as bad as it was, possibly due to the fly infestation being dealt with.
I have done a little research but all I know is that bats are protected under law and as you say, dealing with such an issue is a touchy and very much of a problem, as bats have more of a right to be in our home than we do.. that's the government for you
I have no intention of harming or physically removing them, but on the other hand we don't want them up their in the first place as a few of our family are petrified of them, this seems to be a no win situation..only thing I can suggest is to leave an energy saving light on (not one which gets seriously hot!) this just persuades them to stay in one corner and not venture out across the attic.
