i'm ready to buy a decent air rifle at last! it's for pheasant, rabbit etc at 25yrds. i'm thinking .22. single shot ok, multishot would be nice but really i only shoot for the pot. i'm likely to get a decent silencer anyway. any particular reason i should not go with a bog-standard scope?

price-wise i'm divided between the air arms S200 and the BSA ultra.

i'd like the lightness, compactness - my girlfriend can have a go too.

this is a long term purchase - i'd like low maintenance costs and long term reliability.

happy to buy second hand though they don't come up?

any thoughts? does anybody know BOTH rifles?

    many thanks,

    sam Question

Hi Sam, unfortunately i don't know both rifles, however i can speak very highly of the S200. The rifle is very light and compact with great accuracy and power, i've been using one for a couple of years now and can honestly find no fault. A friend of mine just happens to have one for sale, not because he doesn't like it, he loves it but doesn't have the time to use it. It's like the day it came out of the box, has an Air Arms silencer fitted along with good 4x40 scope and mounts, comes in a BSA rifle bag. It is a 177 chosen for it's increased muzzle velocity( apparently @860fps) which gives an increased effective range, i've taken a rabbit at @45yds. He's asking £220(cost£370) for the package plus postage costs. Please let me know if you're interested as it's just about to be advertised.

Hope this is of some help.
    Sooty.

Hallo sam, i'm like sooty1135 and only have experience of the s200, but thy both have a good write up. the thing that made my mind up when i had your dilemma was that with the s200 you can buy single shot and then later upgrade with a retro fit mag system like i have and they work a treat, wereas on the bsa you can'nt do this. hope this helps, good luck chooseing. peter.

Very Happy Hi sam, i would go with the S200, i have had experiance with both rifles and will always go back to the trusty 200, both rifles offer great proformance at the right price, the differance being the versitility of the air arms. as standard you get an amaizing single shot rifle, great as a starting point for the beginner but it is up to all of the riggers of a more expencive multi shot like the S410. all that you need is a decent scope and silencer and you have got 1 of the best light weight hunters on the market. if you then couple it with 1 of the aftermarket multi shot conversions you have 1 of the best multi shot hunters on the market. mine personally was standard (origianly) it now has a 10 shot multi, logun silencer, hawlk 3-12x50 night eye illuminator scope, sling and laser sight. it has NEVER let me down.
Hope that this helps. Very Happy well worth every penny. Laughing
