Hi I need some help deciding on a riding school!

I have been riding on and off for years and have decided to have a go at cross country. I have visited several riding schools in my areas ( Cheshire and Staffordshire) that teach cross country and now have to make a decision.

One of the schools had excellent facilities, with a huge XC course, 2 jumping arenas and indoor and outdoor schools, and are registered with the BHS. I really liked what they had on offer, but was concerned when I went to visit, as no one seemed very friendly, and didn't seem to want to talk to me. I had a wander round, but felt like an outsider there. This was at Endon Riding School.

The other place didn't have quite the same standard of facilities, but had a large XC course, a jumping arena and an indoor school, but was not registered with the BHS. A girl showed me round and she was really friendly and helpful, and made me feel far more welcome. This was Whitmore Riding School.

My question is, where would you chose to ride? I was unable to meet any instructors at both the schools, so my only impression was of the grooms and other staff and the facilities on offer. Would you ride somehwere not listed by the BHS? Should I risk the unfriendly place and hope to get more well known there? As you can see, I really can't make this decision on my own. I realise that I have to make the choice in the end, but if anyone has ridden at either of these places or can offer any advice, please let me know.

    My email adress is puss_-in-_boots@hotmail.com

    Thank you, Harri
