    Hi all,

As per the title I'm looking for a bike for the other half for his Christmas present. He's always wanted a real bike (none of this 125 rubbish, lol!) so thought I'd get him one. For starters, he's only done his CBT, so I'm going to be arranging his test (secretly) for asap after crimbo. I'm hoping to get the bike delivered as close to Christmas is as practicable.

The question is - where do I start! Some points -

    1. He owned an Aprilia RS125 last year but the engine kept blowing so he just sold it in the end - some that doesn't need 'warming up' would therefore be a good start!
    2. He's said before that he'd like a Ninja or R6 maybe - would these be too powerful for his first 'real' bike?
    3. Budget's going to be about 6k so I'm hoping to buy new/pre-registered if possible - is this realistic?
    4. Finally, am I correct in thinking that there are 2 parts to the motorcycle test which allow you to ride < 500cc and > 500cc ?

Any help would be completely appreciated - as you can see I'm a complete novice! I just need some nudges from experienced riders so that I don't buy him a lemon (!) or something that is simply 'too much to handle'! He's a bit of a speed demon but I don't want him to kill himself!

    Many thanks in Advance,

    Victoria Smile

HI yes you do need two parts of the test, Also the R6 is a very powerfull bike even tho its only a 600. How about the new Suzuki 650 Bandit you have a choice of two one with a fairing and one without, They are very reliable and the insurance should be cheaper than the R6, Also if he does not pass his test it can easily be restricted to a learner power. Hope this helps best reguards ,Paul.
