OK, I'm gonna drop this because I can see how stupid it is really, people are always gonna do their own thing, hopefully they'll choose to do whatever right. -

I have a pellet rifle that can shoot 1000fps. Thats only 200 under an m-16, which can put a hole through someone's head. I think my rifle could do a good bit of damage. -

That is in fact more powerful then an AK-47 which is 710m/s. That's actually quite scary if u think about it, I suppose it's all down to size and weight of the ammunition used, a 7.62mm bullet would do a hell of a lot more damage then a .177 pellet. -

That's the point. A .22 can move at one **** of a clip, but it doesn't have the mass of a larger bullet. For an actual idea of the power of a round you nee to figure the energy it delivers on impact. -

But the More mass that the projectile has, the slower it needs to move to have more impact damage.
Watch the history channel or weaponology and see the diff between the .223 round and the heavier .30 cal 7.62x39 ak round.
The AK round is slower, but is about 2.5 times larger and heavier than the .223 round.
Watch the diff in the ballistic putty blocks when they shoot them with the diff rounds.
.223 makes a sizeable hole in the block.(2700 fps)
The slower 7.62x39(2300 fps) annihilates the block! shredding it into pieces, it literally explodes.
Thus the heavier round will always deliver more ft/lbs and POWER upon impact. Velocity really only means distance to me.
Look at the 9mm vs the .45ACP performance.
.45 is big and slower, where as the 9mm is smaller and faster.
It often takes multiple rounds to defeat and assailant with the 9mm(900fps to 1300fps), usually only takes 1 round from the .45Acp(around 850-1050fps depending on the load)
Faster is not always better. -

ok now first thing is first i read in your post about the gamo eployee getting in trouble for haveing a CONCEALED FIREARM guess what its not a fire arm simply because there is no powder charge of any kind to propel the projectile and two the last thing any officer wants to do is splatter someone over a concealed weapon if the holder is not showing intent of use or engage in a violent crime and is completely complying with authority.put your self in the officers shoes for a minute I also carry a pro 77 in my car and have gotten stopped and i have informed officers of what apears to be a fire arm in the glove box (making sure that my hands are out of my window and make no sudden movements)I also adhere to to any and all signs that weapons of ANY kind are not accepted.so my knife asp and pro77 stay in the car. -

now as for self defense use ur common sense dont pull an air gun without you having another weapon my recommendation is a telescopic baton. I say put your self in the bad guys point of veiw a shower a painful bb would surley make him lose sight of you at which point you run away or break his arm or leg with your baton then run away.the area you want to aim for to stun or hurt is hands ears. the face and neck are dangerous and could be fatal
