I know this is dumb, very dumb. OK., one of my friends is looking for a pellet gun "for self defense". I told him multiple reasons not to, but he wouldn't listen to me, the only thing that would stop him from carrying one in his backpack, is to get him to figure out that pellets are not effective against humans. I would like some other peoples post to show him.
Thank you.

LOL, it isn't going to do much unless it hits a vital vein. A head shot it probably will only give somebody a nasty headache and maybe a cuncusion. A body shot won't do much, either.

IT WILL HURT REALLY BAD THOUGH EVEN IF IT CAN'T DO ANY REAL DAMAGE. THE ONLY THING THAT WILL COME GOOD OF IT IS THAT IT COULD BE A GOOD INTIMIDATION.

He says he'll just shoot them several times.... I think I'm just going to tell his parents what he's doing. * sigh*

Careful Ssumo, your not allowed to question the 'shooters' on their own patch, they get very defensive and will go 'bleeting' to the 'mods' for questioning them or raising a difference in opinion, I don't think your allowed to instigate a 'debate' here, no I think these pages are for general 'back-slapping' and impressing each other with numbers of kills, longest shot, couldn't have put it better "bad advice" for "stupid questions"
I'm new here, did I do something wrong?
His parents told me that they watch out for any pellets, ect around the house.
Thanks guys.

Only a very luck shot would do any fatal damage to a full grown human target. Unless your shot centered around the occular cavity. even then, onthe only side effect would prob be perm blindness in that eye.
It is good as a scare tactic for those that have never seen a small caliber pistol(or CO2 pellet gun for that matter)
I don't know why, but I find it HILARIOUS that your buddy carries it for self defense.
If he were ever jumped by a pack of ravenous squirrels, rabbits or starlings, he'd show them a thing or two
LOL

Now maybe im being over critical here, but i would of thought only an unlucky shot would do any fatal damage to a human.!
I wonder if this boys parents think it was a lucky shot?

first of all i'm new here and this is my first post but i feel i gotta react, but i guess that's the beauty of forums... well here goes...
now come on, you guys must have fired air rifle's when you were younger i mean jees COME ON...
answer me this micky, lee and... the other guy... you must have fired an air rifle...
i have a couple questions for ya...
did you use it responsibly and in a safe manner ?
did you make any vermin kills ?
however i do believe a 1.77 pellet is potentially lethal to a human, an avid shooter i am but i do know the dangers.
