camera fault- samsung digimax 101

hi, im relatively new to photography. so sorry if the answer to this one is obvious. my camera's lcd screen flickers when i am trying to take a photo, and because of this, i need to time clicking the shutter button just as the screen is on. it has caused me no end of frustration, grief and missed shots. i have tried to get in touch with samsung, but they havent been any help, going to a shop is my other idea, but i know that all they will say is "get a new camera, how about this nice shiney £500 model..........." if anybody has any idea how i can resolve this problem please reply. thanx for the help
