Hi,
I am having a problem with a faulty handset, and wondered if anyone had heard of similar problems...
Basically, I got my contract with Phones4u, and have had to have my Sony Ericsson handset sent off for repairs on 2 occasions now. The first time, Phones4u were so incredibly difficult about the whole thing that I had to argue to have it sent away for repairs. So on the second occasion, when I went into the store, they were completely un-interested in the whole thing. Eventually, I gave up, and contacted Sony Ericsson directly, who said they would repair my phone for me. I sent it away, in good faith, only to be told they cannot repair it as I have invalidated my manufacturers warranty by causing water damage to it – I am 100% sure I did not cause any water damage to the handset, and at the time of developing a fault, it was lying on my bed and just turned off, and refused to turn on again. I have contacted trading standards for advice, and have been advised that it is my responsibility to prove that the water damage was not caused by me, so I am curious to hear if anyone has had any similar problems with Sony Ericsson, as this is the only thing I can think of which could possibly help…
I have been advised to get my faulty handset back from Sony Ericsson, which I have to pay for, and it will not be repaired! And to try and negotiate with Phones4u in terms of getting a new handset, my network provider is Orange, but it is Phones4u that I have the contract with, and they are the ones I must take my dispute up with now. My main difficulty is that as I went to the phone manufacturer directly, Phones4u are able to say that I have in-validated any warranty agreement with them… I am also outside of the normal 6-month retailer guarantee / warranty that is normally offered – all of which has been confirmed by trading standards! The only thing I can really use is that Phones4u have made it so difficult, I felt I had no option but to go directly to the manufacturer, and hope that head office will offer me something – which I highly unlikely! If anyone has heard of a similar problem, please let me know as I will be interested to hear! -
