Honda civic coupe 1.6 (non Vtec) Vs. Audi A3 1.8T (98)

Hi all, everyone okay?
I'm in on the market for a new car and these two are the favourites. what I'm wondering about is fuel consumption between the two....would they be roughly similar? Does one drink more than the other? I know one is a 1.6 and one is a 1.8, so there will be obvious differences, but is there a huge difference for any one that knows? also for anyone thats driven either (or both), what do reckon...which one would you go for? And for which reason? thanks in advance for any help!
