Hello,
this is my first post... I was barely introuduced to the marvelous world of bb guns...
i'm thinking on getting the beretta XX-TEME:
http://www.airgundepot.com/beretta-xx-treme-pellet-gun.html
Specs:
CALIBER: .177 VELOCITY: 395 fps CAPACITY: 8-shot clip
i have a few questions...
1.- is this enough to go hunting with?
2.- can i use it for pest control?
3.- can i kill rats, wolfs, dogs, Hares and jackrabbits, bears(LOL) with this gun?
(i don''t want to kill anything with this is just to give me an idea...)
4.- is 395 fps a lot?
5.- Any ideas, comments, or why i should not buy this gun...???
Thanks
Regards,
a friend.. -

Some answers based on my experience with a standard Beretta...
1. No, it doesn't have the range, power or accuracy for hunting, pistols are for target shooting, rifles are for hunting.
2. Not really
3. It may kill a rat if your a very good shot, but you can forget anything bigger.
4. Its enough to give someone a serious injury and enough to punch holes in paper targets at 10 metres.
5. The standard Beretta is a seriously nice piece of kit, I'd definitely recommend it to someone looking to get started in pistol shooting, the XX-TREME version is a lot of money and it might be a good idea to start out with something a bit cheaper. If your willing to part with the cash though and the XX-TREME is what you want then get it, take care of it and it will serve you well for years and I reckon it will get you hooked on air pistols forever. -

Hi Guys,
I'm new to the group so I'll introduce myself as XTactOp.
I'm a new purchaser of a Bretta XX-Treme Tactical Pistol, well actually the order was placed very early this morning from AGD along with a few other items.
I've been involved with guns and reloading for many years so I'm quite familiar
with many of the issues involved in shooting actual fire arms and the Pellet Pistol is only a scaled down version weapon but none the less has it's applications and dangers if used improperly!
After reading several reviews along with the fact that allegedly even the LE uses
these weapons it seemed like a good choice for a Co2 Pellet Pistol, not to mention
the extremely threatening appearance which I think is pretty kool even at my age!
The weapon is a bit on the expensive side but is supposed to be very solid and smooth operating as well as accurate and at least it's produced, so I was told by Umerex in Alabama, U.S.A. for a change over everything being made in China.
From what I read the weapon is very capable within it limits and of course that would depend how many shots have/had been fired/the pressure left in the Co2 cartridge and the weight of the pellet being used and the distance to the desired target. From what I read this new weapon is supposed to be very accurate so I'll be testing it out as soon as I get it which should be Wed or Thur of this week if time is allows which I think it should.
I have a bench rest and adjustable gun rest to use to sight the BXT in with so it should be interesting. The thing I'll enjoy is that it will a lot quieter to shoot that say my Glock .40 as well as being a lot less costly too.
I purchased a couple of varieties of pellets, one being what is called a Hollow Point and figured out an easy way to glue a peice of shot to the front of it to create even a heaver Pellet for closer range work that may require more impact/knock down power.
So it will be interesting to have some fun with while keeping shooting practice up economically and without all the noise as I even shoot my guns right on my onw country place here.
I hope there will be others to join the forum.
In relation to the 'Friend' post a lot depends on the size of the varmait your going after, your profeciency with the weapon and the type of pellet your using and the distance to the prey and power left in the cartridge? Every weapon, even
actual firearms, have their limits given various conditions.
I think, from what I read that the BXT should be a pretty good choice for a pistol? My buddy had a Walther Night Hawk which I shot but wasn't overly thrilled with it due to the long triger pull and it didn't seem to be too accurate
but again that can be due to the type of pellet being used also. Learning what shoots well in your gun is part of the fun/frustration depending on how you want to look at it. At least the ammo doesn't in most cases cost too much.
Also sometimes one type of pellet may tend to leave more residue in the barrel than another type which affect performance and require more cleaning to maintain accuracy?
Anyway it should be interesting to trade notes and see the results we get.
The thing I'm most concerned about is that the former pellet rifle I had purchased
by Crossman which also had a rotary magazine lost it ability to hold any pressure
in the Co2 cartridges after only a short while after the warranty was up and Crossman wouldn't do anything about it or even offer a solution as I recall but it been some time now for me to recall exactly. Anyway I sure hope that doesn't happen with the Umarex Bretta or at least they will have a fix for it if it does??
Good shooting,
XTactOp
